It’s been a while since I’ve had an ad crush, so I figured it was about time I get back out there and rebound. There were those brief flings with the latest and greatest Sportscenter commercials, but nothing serious. Luckily, Adrants led me to this spot for Skittles.

I haven’t cared for the other Skittles commercials, and I don’t really think this presents a positive image for the brand, but you have to take it likely and you have to appreciate the idea and the entertainment factor. For some reason this commercial reminds be of the old SNL skit where Christopher Walken (my hero) plays Ed Glosser: Trivial Psychic.

I’m infatuated by many things, and guess what people, I’m gonna add another item to the list. I have two hearts; one of them just happens to be called my stomach In this stomach I’ve reserved a permanant spot for the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. It took me 22 years to try one, but it was worth the wait.

Now, I’ve never had an authentic Cheesesteak from Philadelphia, but with the two I’ve tried, I think I’ve found Portland’s best representative. Even Willamette Weekly crowned it champion in the Super Cheesesteak Bowl. It comes from a little cart in Pioneer Courthouse Square. Imagine that. I don’t even have to give you directions. As soon as you step onto PCS’ bricks, you’ll be able to smell the grilled onions.

I discovered this sacred cart and its blessed offerings a few weeks back, but it wasn’t until yesterday that I felt ready for the Cheesesteak. I must admit that I am a Repeat Offender as I have now had the “medium cheesesteak with no mushrooms” on consecutive days. It has actually contributed to my current sack-less lunch streak. Today is day four, and it might not last much longer, but this much is true, the PCS cheesesteak will be a weekly staple of my diet.
